Stephen Moyer’s Perfect Paranoia Performance in “The Barrens”

Horror.com’s Staci Layne Wilson reviewed the Blu-Ray version of “The Barrens” and had this to say about Stephen Moyer’s performance:  “Moyer, hardly the suave or tough Vampire Bill here, puts in a perfect paranoia performance as an unraveling soul. (Sorry though, ladies, he’s make to look very worn out and rough around the edges). The actor does an admirable job of never tipping his hand of whether on he’s crazy or a killer. The question remains, Why would he kill anyone? Surely, it’s the Devil. But just when you start thinking that, Bousman throws in another boomerang twist, making you question your decision. There is no Devil… is there?”

Director Darren Lynn Bousman also praises Steve’s work, saying in an interview with horror.com:  “The entire cast is great, but Moyer really knocked this out of the park. So much of the movie relied on believing Moyer, and his breakdown.   I was a fan of TRUE BLOOD, but in my opinion he takes this character to a whole other level. I remember sitting on set at video village, and getting chills as I watched him work. It was truly heartbreaking.”

    1. Is it any surprise that SM did a fantastic job?? I had no doubt that this was again going to be a stellar performance from Steve.

Didn’t read the whole interview, since I tend to enjoy this kind of movie more without knowing much about them… so no spoilers for me :P But I can’t wait for my DVD to arrive!!

      Thanks for posting!

    3. I think we all knew that Stephen was going to be amazing in this film. Anyone who knows his work is confident of that.
Glad to see the critics feel the same.

I wish I could have made it to NJ this year.
Hey Aem, who got my bunk?

Well, though there is nothing better then seeing this wonderful man on the big screen, I will have to be satisfied with the DVD.

    4. Great review, and wonderful praise from Mr. Bousman!
No doubt Stephen is wonderfully delusional or devious and deadly in “The Barrens” – he’s so damn talented, it’s a given!
