In addition to the casting of Rutger Hauer as M. Warlow Macklyn, True Blood is looking to fill three additional characters so far for season six. I’m telling you, True Blood is doing it’s part to help the unemployment problem in the States! Although the way this show works, it’ll probably be more like temporary employment …
Ben – an “ultra charming, ultra handsome” fella in his late 20s/early 30s who is magnetic to women and menfolk alike, all while using his Southern gentility to mask a dark, dark, darrrrrk side. Watch for Ben to cross paths with Sookie soon after his arrival. Series regular.
Governor of Texas – a Rick Perry-type who is a warmonger. Recurring.
Governor’s daughter – pretty and originally comes off as fearful, but will prove to be quite tough. Recurring.

It appears that any semblance of following Charlaine Harris’ books is a small dot in Alan Ball’s rearview mirror. Pity.

Doesn’t bother me one bit, Tabby. I am not a fan of the books at all, aside from being happy that CH created some good characters. I will never forgive her for kicking Bill to the curb, that was a deal breaker. I far prefer True Blood,

C4B, I am bothered only to the extent that AB has managed to make Bill more troublesome and evil that he was in the books. That and the fact that there is coherency in the books that is sadly lacking in much of TB of late. Bill also makes a resurgence in the later books while Eric’s stock seems to be in decline. Until this season, I was able to watch and read and enjoy each version in their own right. For me it has been and will always be all about the story and the characters whether TV show or books. I loved Bill in the books, I loved Bill brought to life in the TV story. It is the absolute perversion of his character in TB that irritates me to no end. Each to their own as they say.

Tabby, I’m still having a difficult time coming to terms with what they’ve done with Bill. I’ve always been a huge fan of book Bill, but my appreciation for his character has grown tremendously in the last few books. Book Bill is the epitome of the Mainstreaming movement. I’ve no clue where they’ve come up with TB Bill and sincerely hope that the writers have an incredible story of redemption lined up for him, but I’m also prepared to be disappointed.

Tabby & SenseofDoubt…agree totally with ya’ll. I love the Book Bill character and aboslutely loved the TB version until this season. I also hope there’s redemption for him but I’m also prepared to be disappointed.
