Michael McMillian Shares His Thoughts on S5 Bill Compton

TV Guide and Michael McMillian got together for an interesting Q&A which covers more than just his character, Steve Newlin, it also delves into the Authority and what could possibly happen to vampire society.

McMillian: … we  know from the established mythology that vampires who get together and form in nests can really start to behave in really terrible ways. That’s kind of what’s happening already within the Authority.

Do you think Bill will fall into it?

McMillian: It’s interesting because I think that Bill has always clearly been a mainstreamer at heart. As far as we know, the only people he’s really fed on are people that he’s been in a relationship with. I think everyone’s playing a game at this point. I think he keeps his cards close to his chest. Obviously, he was keeping a secret from Sookie for three seasons that he had been sent there by Sophie to spy on her originally. Whether or not Bill is falling into step with the Authority and the new agenda is a bit of a mystery in the second half of the season.

Suggestion: Read the entire article if you don’t mind some minor spoilers, it’s worth the read.

    1. Another very interesting interview, thank you ladies for posting.

Considering the clip we saw for the next episode and this interview, I agree that what we are made to perceive about Bill, and what is yet in store for him the rest of this season, is yet a mystery.
This continues to make him a more intriguing character by far.

I do think its possible for Bill to have a momentary fall. He is after all our flawed Byronic hero. He has made mistakes.
But once again that merely shows us that as a vampire, Bill is more human than all the rest combined, human, vampire, etc.

To feel lost in your heart and soul, to suffer the torment and anguish when questioning ones faith. To have a momentary fall from grace….

One must first have grace, a heart and soul.

Bill has all these plus an incredible intellect.
That is why I first admire this character and why I will always support him no matter the torment and tragedy that continues to weigh heavily on his beautiful shoulders.

    2. Great interview, loved how Mike McMillen has pegged Eric 100% correctly, he is like KRE and Steve in that his interests always will come first. And not one mention of ‘Eric and Sookie’, lol. Only Nora, his sister. Has ‘Eric/Sookie’ fallen off everyone’s radar :-)

And Bill may fall deep into darkness for whatever reason, but he will come out of it a better vampire, I have doubt about that at all.
