Now this news is exciting! True Blood has started casting the new roles for season 6 and this first one is being filled by a face I’m sure y’all are familiar with.
Acting vet Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) is joining the HBO smash as a series regular. Hauer will play Macklyn, a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason.
Hauer is well known for his portrayal of Blade Runner‘s Roy Batty, a renegade robot trying to evade capture in Ridley Scott’s classic sci-fi film. But the Dutch actor has a varied resume that includes parts in movies like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Batman Begins and Sin City and guest roles in TV’s Smallville and Alias. In 1988, he won a Golden Globe for his work in the TV movie Escape From Sobibor.
Go forth and speculate, and if you like, do it in the comments.

hmmm… Very interesting… and am I remembering wrong, or was the conctrace between John Stackhouse and one M. Warlow?? That M could be Macklyn.. but the casting peeps don’t want to be to obvious about it??

I have loved Rutger Hauer since he starred in the great Dutch film, “Soldier of Orange,” the true story of a university student in Holland before the war who ends up being a secret agent for the Dutch government. I have the book it was based on and had the movie on VHS, I think I need to get it on DVD. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, it basically caught the attention of Hollywood and both Hauer and Verhoeven (and also Jeroen Krabbé, who played Hauer’s character’s best friend) subsequently had careers in Hollywood. Sorry for going on about this movie, it’s my old movie reviewer persona talking.
Hauer is a great actor, this is going to be good, very good. Can hardly wait! And yes, I too think he will play Macklyn Warlow!

Oh Gosh, I have always loved Rutger Hauer in everything he’s done! Excellent, most excellent news!
Yes, he could possibly be the infamous M. Warlow we all want to know more of! But, he could be anyone with the way they toss things at us. Altho even one casting call like this is WONDERFUL news! Big name actors are always great!

Good news! Rutger Hauer has a riveting screen presence, and I’ll be anxious to see him as a regular.
I’ve seen him in many films, but I’m going to look up that “Soldier of Orange” – it sounds so interesting, and I love Jeroen Krabbe too. Thanks, Crazy4Bill!

My favorite Rutger Hauer movie was LadyHawke with Michele Pfeiffer, he played the romantic lead and those two were great together and the story was so romantic.
He has the perfect face for a Warlow type character, it should be very interesting.

RUTGAR WOULD MAKE A PERFECT “WARLOW” IN HUMAN/VAMP MYSTERIOUS FORM AND SOMEHOW BEING RELATED TO SOOKIE /JASON!…HUH?..WHATCHA SAY?

Very Excellent news about Rutger joining the cast!
And I also thought the same thing when I saw the name “Macklyn” along with Rutgers distinctive face.
“M” Warlo.
His look matches well with what little we’ve already seen of Warlo.
JXV, I also loved him in “LadyHawke”. A very tormented and desperate lover! Michelle Pfeiffer and a very young Matthew Broderick rounded up the main cast.
What I find humorous is that Rutger has also played a vampire! Lothos, in the original movie, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.
LOL, love it.
Like many here, my personal fav is of course “Blade Runner” (with yummy Harrison Ford).
Did any one else realize there is also another True Blood connection to Blade Runner? Besides now Rutger H. of course.
William Sanderson (the now deceased Bud Dearborn) played the key role of Sebastian in the film.
Can Y’all tell Im a movie buff??
Well, anyways, I think Rutger will make an excellent addition to the TB cast.
Now if only we can only convince them to get David Bowie to play Niall.

I think Rutger Hauer will be able to add a little pathos and gravitas to the role of Warlow. I see a lot of potential.
