Synopsis

The Devil’s Knot is the true story of the West Memphis Three based on the 2002 true crime book by Mara Leveritt about the 1993 murders of three eight-year-old children and the subsequent trials of three teenagers charged with and convicted of the crimes. The names of the three teens convicted are: Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley. They, however, would come to be known as the West Memphis Three. Leveritt’s book revolves around the central idea that the three teenagers convictions were a result of “Satanic panic” rather than actual evidence. The book also focuses on one of the victim’s stepfathers and his possible connection with the murders. All three teenagers convicted were released on August 19, 2011.

  1. Oh boy, I know I’ll be able to drag my husband along to this one. May..Devils Knot, June.. King Billith! Something to look forward to!

  2. Poland? :)

  3. LOL, ask and I shall receive eh? More excellent news.
And more Steve is always synonymous with great!

BTW, HBO has done a wonderful job, in the recent past, airing all 4 of the documentaries concerning this controversial case.
    A real must see.

    Go Steve!

  4. Sorry, Joanna, we don’t have any info on Poland, but maybe it’ll be the perfect time to take a trip to the Netherlands? ;-)

  5. Hey, they left out Canada, but maybe it’s the same as the US.

  6. It’s directed by Atom Egoyan, who is Canadian, so I am confident that we in the Great White North will see it at the same time as y’all in the USA.

  7. So looking forward to this one and I hope it will be a wide release as I wish all his films to be.
@Wanda, my hubby will go to this one, he won’t even recognize Steve and I will only tell him at the end. hehe

  8. OMG ! I can’e believe my eyes! Russia? If it is so then I will go there to watch it if they won’t bring it to Ukraine!

  9. I am so totally ecstatic at the thought of it being released here in Oz… over the moon that for once we will get the chance to see the Moya in full screen strutting his stuff in a drama.

Still getting over the disappointment that we didn’t get The Barrens on the big screen darn it.

    Roll on all the goodies.

  10. I’m putting that date in my diary!

  11. I am so happy about this! Seeing Stephen on the big screen will be a true highlight of the summer – and it looks like we get to do it at least twice this year – yipee!

  12. Yay!!!!

  13. Rumored November in US- Worked as an extra on this- Cartersville Ga.- Met Stephen- Reese Witherspoon- Kevin Durand – Julie Mcevey- briefly- was great- Looking forward to it’s release!

  14. A Russian release date? Either over-dubed or with sub-titles and NO UK release scheduled yet? Very odd. I was not aware that the book had been translated into Russian nor that any of the documentaries had been released with subtitles!! The only ‘Russian’ link I can see is that ‘show trials’ exist there and in Arkansas! A sad indictment of Arkansan justice.
