Steve plays the role of Richard Vineyard, who takes his family on a camping trip in the New Jersey Barrens where things go terribly wrong. Richard becomes ill and believes the Jersey Devil is after them.

Check out Ms. McDonald’s Twitter page for more photos of her experience shooting in the Rockwood Conservation Area and for tweets such as: “Best groaner of the week to steve moyer for remarking that our shoot was in-tents…. (intense…camping…get it?)”

What makes Stephen Moyer tick?

That’s what the Bajan Reporter out of Barbados wants to know, so Steve had his turn at answering questions as part of their ‘Interviews with Vampires – True Blood Series. We’ve seen most of it in some form or another, but there are some new tidbits about season 4 we’ve never seen before. Such as, did Bill know Sookie was lying to him when he went searching for Eric at her house? Read on and enjoy!

Question: This season doesn’t look great for Bill and Sookie’s relationship.
Stephen Moyer: No. I don’t know how many times I’ve said this but I think that [laughs] you can’t watch two people be happy together for too long. Our show is about conflict and drama. If you see me put this glass down like that, Alan is never gonna make me do that again – he wants to see what happens when it’s a cup or a broken glass. Now that’s fantastic because you are constantly being given stuff that you didn’t know. Like my character, I didn’t know he was going to be a 1920s nightclub entertainer, right? So in season two, suddenly I’m behind the piano and singing. I didn’t know that I’d been in London in the 80s, so episode two, I go back to London in the 80s so now I have to think – when I’m creating stuff or when there’s new stuff coming – “God I was in London in the 80s, I wonder where else I was?”

Q: How was the accent on that? Did you do a British accent from the point of view of being an American?
SM: Yeah. I just went straight in and did [in strong accent] full fucking full Camden. It was awesome. Bucky – who wrote that episode – is a good friend of mine. It didn’t need to be in England in the 80s but he totally did it because that’s how he sees me: in Camden in the 80s. So yeah, Bill and Sookie have separated. At the end of season three he gets pushed away from her and he knows that he’s messed up. What’s interesting about their relationship is that Bill knows enough now not to tell her what to do. So when there are a couple of instances where she gives him an opening and he says “goodnight Sookie”. He’s reversing because he knows if there’s any hope for him with her, if there is any possibility that they have a future, he has to let her be – and that includes possibly what’s about to happen with Eric.

Q: Which leads me to the obvious question – how is it having another man woo your wife at work?
SM: We’re friends. I went up to him at the beginning of the season and said – you’ve got loads of stuff coming up. You have to do your job and you have to be completely happy to do so. I’m not going to be around but I’ve got members of the crew reporting back to me, I’ve got little handy cams and cameras everywhere and I’ve got a little handy cam built into her snatch patch. It’s part of the job and she’s also had to deal with me having relationships with two people this year. What’s different really is that I know Alex really well but the two girls that were coming in to do that stuff were people that she’d never met before. In a way it’s harder. You’ve got to remember what it’s like from Anna’s point of view. HBO and the show have benefited from us being a couple because when we had to do the sex stuff we went for it, but now she’s having to do it with somebody else in front of all the crew who know us as a couple. People are talking about how difficult it must be for me to see her – but you gotta think what it’s like for them, because I’m Alex’s mate.

Q: In that first scene together where you refuse to come in you’ve still got that brilliant screen chemistry.
SM: We love working together but we are very aware that… we’ve had a couple of offers where to do movies together, but we’re not gonna do that. I think people will be sick and tired of us. We certainly will work together, we’ve set up a production company and it’ll probably be me directing or her directing or something like that, but I don’t think we will act together because we’re just aware that… overkill.

Q: Did you worry that after you were married it wouldn’t zing on screen?
SM: No, the truth is, when we get together on set, which isn’t as often as it has been, we’re so pleased to be working together. There’s a scene in episode four where Sookie lies to Bill and on the page, it was a very simple scene. I go to the door, I need to go in, I need to know if Eric’s there. She says he’s not there. And he knows that she’s lying, she knows he knows that she’s lying, but they look each other in the eye and it’s a really massive moment. He has to believe her because she’s never lied to him before. And that was so much fun to play and it was torture. Everybody came up afterwards and was like “oh it’s so good to see them together in this kind of pain.” I think there’s probably a truism in life that flirting is far far more sexy and risqué prior to a sexual encounter but Anna and I have taken the piss out of each other and been so horrible to each other in front of everybody for so long that I don’t think we could be anything else together.

Stephen Moyer & Anna Paquin – A cliche romance?

Odd, but here’s an interview with Steve done in June before season 4 began and we’ve never seen it before … at least, that we remember. And, when it comes to Steve, there’s not much we forget. Vegamite or Marmite? Manscaped or au naturale? Steve answers these questions and more.

PopEater: You fell in love on the set, which is such a cliche … you know that, right?
Steve: Yeah. I’ve not got an original bone in my body. I think we were both not in relationships at the time, we were sort of dating and I don’t think we were looking. There was an attraction, obviously and undeniably, but in your head you’re going, ‘That would be such a cliche!’ and also I’ve said this before but all of these people have signed on to do this gig, they’re hoping it’s going to last seven years and the last thing that you want to do is screw it up for everybody by having a little flirtation and then hating each other for the next seven years. So you think you’re not going to act on this but you know our resolve didn’t last long.

PE: Well she is fabulous. I think you’re batting way above your average.
SM: How dare you! (Laughs).

PE: Ever get sick of each other on set?
SM: The truth is we haven’t had much to do together this year. I think Alan (Ball, creator) is trying to protect our relationship so we don’t get bored with each other.

PE: So what can we expect this season?
SM: This season’s about everyone trying to move on. Last season Sookie went away and and everybody has had to get by in her absence. Things have changed a little bit and when she does finally make it back, the shift is very noticeable. I think it gave the writers a great opportunity to fuck with the audience’s head. (Laughs) I expect that to be used in full quotation marks.

PE: Is there a lot of manscaping for the show?
SM: About 2/3′s of the way through season one we had a new director on board and we had a scene where Sookie and Bill get it on for the first time, it was a very important scene and the director said I just want it to be so smooth and pure and lovely and I just don’t see Bill with chest hair and I’m a hairy dude. I sort of listened to his reasoning and I kind of went, okay, this is what he wants I suppose we’ll do this. I was far more malleable then, four seasons on I’m an absolute fucker now but I went, ‘Okay,’ so me and Bridget the makeup artist get together, have an intimate moment in the makeup room with 14 other people and I shave my chest and we get round to doing it and then someone goes, ‘You know what? We’ve already shot you with your top off in the first episode and you were totally hairy,’ and I just hadn’t even remembered it. That particular director, we then found out, had a thing about hair, he didn’t have any, let’s put it that way. I’ve gone back to being hirsute.

PE: I love that the show isn’t really a vampire show.
SM: Me and Ryan (Kwanten) for the first year and a half when anybody asked us about it we would say it’s not a vampire show. It’s hard to say it isn’t a vampire show but I think it’s about Bon Temps, it’s about Sookie and it’s about how the rest of the town and the rest of humanity react to having vampires or something else in their midst and that’s a metaphor for anything that you want it to be. I think it’s a bloody good drama that happens to have vampires in it.

PE: Does playing someone from the 19th century with old world manners make you more polite around women?
SM: No, I try and get them to do everything for me. I do it for like 14, 15 hours a day on set and I’m a bastard off set. I don’t think so, I’m English and we come from a place where that’s very much part of your existence. I think I’ve got fairly good manners but I wouldn’t want to eat with me.

PE: Are you very English with what you eat? Baked beans on toast, Marmite?
SM: Definitely Marmite, not your fucking Vegemite crap.

PE: How dare you!
SM: I was making breakfast for my daughter this morning and I was like, ‘Cereal or toast?’ and she called out, ‘Marmite on toast!’ I’ve got a brilliant website that I found where I can watch all the cricket, I follow the English football season very closely, but I’ve embraced America, I really enjoy baseball. I love it here.

PE: Are you like a girl with dieting for all your shirtless scenes?
SM: Oh it’s a nightmare. What’s interesting is and I think this is a good way of looking at dieting, is that I’m only having to steer clear of that for now. So I’m not giving it up forever because I want to be fit and healthy and look good for this particular thing, it doesn’t mean I’m not going to be able to have mashed potatoes immediately after we finish that scene. When I first started doing it I found it really difficult but now I’ve looked at it like that, so those three or four weeks when I’m being really super healthy, I’m like this is fun. I enjoy it.

PE: What’s the first food you turn to after those scenes?
SM: Spaghetti bolognese. In England we call it spag bowl.

PE:Lots of grated cheese on top?
SM: Oh yeah, a shit load.
