My 10 Favorite Things About Bill Compton or Stephen Moyer

The three of us were chatting the other day while drinking various adult beverages, as we do, and came up with a fun plan to involve our faithful readers. (Shush! we are not trying to get out of work by askin’ y’all to write for us!)

We like the year-end lists that are everywhere right now but we’d like them to be about our favorite actor and his alter ego, our favorite vampire. So we asked Bill’s Wiki’d Women and Bill’s Belles to write their lists about Steve Moyer and Bill Compton and we promised to publish them here (sorry, we had to edit out some of the more graphic favorite things, but thanks for the ideas!) Here’s a sample:

My 10 Favorite Things About Stephen Moyer
by BillOhBill

  1. His sense of humor. He is hysterical, witty and sharp. Yum!
  2. His dead on portrayal of Bill Compton. The torment, the wish for humanity. When he walked in, my air went out. Had trouble breathing while watching True Blood ever since.
  3. His arms. Muscular, and strong looking hands the better to … oh never mind.
  4. His love for Anna. You can see it in his eyes. Bravo.
  5. His Bill accent and deep voice. Ohhhhh sends Shivers … Soooookeh is Mahn. Yes Bill, and I am too.
  6. His henleys. No man can wear a henley stretched tight across his chest and look that good. Well one, and I married him. LOL
  7. The little things he does with his mouth when he talks. I can only imagine what he … never mind … LOL
  8. His eyes. He has gorgeous eyes.
  9. His generosity. He always remembers the Brentwood Theatre.
  10. Everything. I love everything about him. I haven’t loved a celebrity like this since Donny Osmond. I would say the way he smells, but I haven’t smelled him yet. If I ever meet him, I am taking the biggest inhale when I hug him, I will pop! Because I know he smells good. *faints*

Top 10 Hottest Vampires List Includes Stephen Moyer

The blog BettyConfidential.com posted a list of the “10 Hottest Vampires of 2010.” It’s not much of a surprise to find the list includes both of the Salvatore brothers from “Vampire Diaries” or a few of the sparkly vampires from “Twilight,” but the list also includes True Blood vamps Queen Sophie Ann in the number 9 slot, the Sheriff of Area 5 comes in at number 6, and at number 2 …

@VampireBill?

Anna Paquin is one lucky lady to be married to one of television’s most loyal and sexy vampires. Who thinks they take their True Blood work home with them?

For the life of me I can’t figure out how “the Slim-Fast, Diet Coke of vampires” claims the number one slot in these polls, but there ya have it.

We know who’s really Number One, don’t we?

Review: The Phenomenon of True Blood

Here’s another great review from our friend Teahead – this time she takes on True Blood and its place in the current vampire mania.

Joanna ‘Teahead’ Bogus?awska is a published writer, college instructor and lecturer living in Gdynia, Poland.

Recently, especially since the release of “Twilight,” an incredibly popular saga, written by Stephanie Meyer, in the pop culture around the world a phenomenon of vampire-mania is visible. It is safe to assume that the bloodsucking creatures have never been so popular since “Dracula” or Anne Rice’s novels. In this genre there are three projects that are particularly popular and successful; the already mentioned “Twilight” saga, a TV series “Vampire Dairies” based on L.J. Smith’s work and a smashingly popular around the world show called “True Blood” on HBO that is based on novels written by Charlaine Harris.

“True Blood” is beyond doubt one of the most successful shows made by HBO. The brilliant title sequence showing a discord in Southern American mentality, colored by a great song, “Bad Things” by Jace Everett, makes it clear that we are about to get to know something above-average and non-standard. Based on the worldwide vampire-mania (it is worth to mention that Charlaine Harris’ novels were published some years before Stephanie Meyer’s novels), the show revolves around the pastiche of the horror genre and well-known schemes (such as the love triangle), but winks an eye to the viewer and serves all this with a completely new quality and a deliciously fresh arrangement.

Great script, fantastic cast, the dynamics of the plot and episodes which you simply cannot stop watching as every of them ends in such way you just have to put yet another DVD disc into your player, made “True Blood” highly popular, but it would not be enough to call it a pop culture icon, which the series has become without any shadow of doubt. So what makes this another vampire story so special? Let’s take a closer look at the phenomenon of “True Blood.”

The Japanese invention of a synthetic blood drink called Tru:Blood, allows the vampires living outside the human world to “come out of the coffin.” They do not need to hunt people anymore, they can live among them and drink their favorite blood type heated to the preferable 36.6 C (98.6F). Not everyone is thrilled with such vision, though. After all, who, when having to choose a pizza potion or ice-cream pills, would decide to replace the real food for it? On one hand, they pay taxes, they have their own pubs, airlines and chain of hotels, they even start the American Vampire League that fights for the Vampire Rights Amendment to the U.S. constitution. It is an obvious metaphor for the minorities’ struggle for acceptance and equality; a homosexual person, a representative of religious minority, now also a vampire. “Coming out of the coffin” is an allegory for “coming out of the closet,” a situation when a person who is bisexual or homosexual decides to reveal his or her orientation. People who are scared of vampires are called vampophobic. It is a very clear and universal message.

Stealthy Brits on U.S. TV? Stephen Moyer’s One of ‘Em

Not much of a surprise to die-hard fans of the Moya, or to die-hard fans of True Blood, but BBC America’s “Anglophenia” page lists Steve as one of the Top 5 Stealth Brits on U.S. TV:

bloody, fangy bill5. Stephen Moyer, True Blood

When it comes to hot vampires, this English thespian leads the pack (watch it, Rob Pattinson) as the sexy Bill Compton on HBO’s True Blood. The Golden Globe-nominated show has totally turned the 41-year-old into a bonafide star, whose previous TV credits include The Starter Wife and Lilies. In August, he and his co-star, Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin, tied the knot. Let us not forget about their much-talked about Rolling Stone cover with castmate Alexander Skarsgård. Yowsa! Keep an eye out for him on the silver screen, too. Moyer is set to appear in the crime drama, The Double, and horror flick, Priest, in 2011. – MacKenzie Wilson
